Hey Chantal
Unfortunately there is no tartan for our name. There are a couple of tartans that apply to our counties however. Irish Crest and House of Edgar both carry their version of our county tartans. I sort of lean to the more muted colors from HOE. There is also the SWK solid green "Shadow tartan" and the Saffron from SWK that are great. I've had the solid green for some time and it works well for quite a few occassions i.e. very versatile. There is the Irish National, from several vendors, that hits the main colors and hues of our beloved Ireland.
There is also the Ulster Red and the Ulster Ancient from several weavers. Our own McMurdo has an Ulster Red and the Ulster Ancient is at the top of my list for the next kilt purchase.
My people are Scots-Irish with ties to the MacKenzies. We left or were thrown out of Scotland back in the 1400's and then emigrated to Ireland and settled on the NW coast in Donegal. My grandfather then emigrated to the US @1890. I could go on, but... There is plenty of info right here on XMTS for you to browse through, so have at it. We are all proud of our heritage, so don't let a silly thing like no tartans for our name stop you from joining in. Get a kilt and celebrate your cultural heritage.
