Hello all,
I am brand new to these forums, I got here through my search for a H.L.I Kilmarnock bonnet, I served with the regiment in the 1950s, we served in Cyprus, and four of our lads where killed in the fight against E.O.K.A, in fact, in the 4 years of the conflict, just under 400 servicemen and women lost their lives, next year, 50 years from the end of the conflict, a memorial will be raised in memory of all those who died, and I God willing, I will be there, to see the unveiling, in Honer of my dead comrades, trouble is, I cant find an H.L.I. kilmarnock bonnet anywhere, I have tried the R.H.F HQ, & museum in Glasgow, Ive been searching the net, Ive even got one of the RHF sergeant majors looking for me, and my daughter found this site and sent it to me, I have a T.O.S, and I can get a Glengarry, but our, dress headgear, was the Kilmarnock bonnet, I find it hard to believe, that of all the thousands made, not one exists to this day, can any of you guys help please, it must have the H.L.I. dicing and a GREEN toorie, green representing the light infantry.
