I made some garter ties for my husband to wear to his mum's funeral.
All I did was use a size H crochet hook to chain the yarn and then I used a larger hook (It didn't say what size it was) to chain that chain. I'm not sure how long the small chaining ended up being as I did 6 feet and ended up adding more after doing the large chaining. It probably amounted to 10 or 12 feet for each garter tie. After doing the large chaining the ties were 3 feet long.

So for any of you out there that can't knit (me) but like garter ties, this is a good option. If you can tie a knot, you can do a crochet chain.
