Kilt Size and Hips
I kept wondering why off-the-rack kilts (including Scottish Wool) that I have tried on in my waist size - 34 even 35's weren't fitting in the hips. Although a 34 waist, I was having to order 36 kilts to get the hips to barely fit. After selling my SWK today I called Rocky at USA Kilts and (I believe) his wife with Rocky in the background told me that their stock kilts are built with hip dimensions 4 inches larger than the waist measurement.
This doesn't work for me. Just like when I order suits I get the 44 Reg jacket and they always come with a 38 waist. So with hip measurements of 41 the 40 inch hips of a 36 kilt barely fits. I doesn't look like it will arive in time for an event I have on Friday March 13th, but it should arrive just afterwards. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
Luckily I was able to order from Rocky a kilt built for me with the proper waist and hip measurements. It will be a couple of weeks but it will be great to have that extra inch in the hips to allow the kilt to hang properly. ith:
