Some weeks back, Josh announced a promotional price for tartan hose, so I decided to take advantage of it. Along with the specs, I sent one of the cut-out bits from the tartan from my MacCreary kilt along with some mini skeins of yarn I made from another of the bits that I unraveled and sorted by color.

Primary colors were to have been ancient scarlet and royal blue; the secondary colors green and yellow.

Here are the results received just today.

I did not expect them to come out quite this elaborate and beautiful, and with bonus colors to boot - black and baby blue. From the blended yarn sections I got the purple I wanted, and, a nice surprise, the olive that is created when that scarlet is crossed with that green.

Construction-wise, I couldn't be more pleased. The knitting is even and there are no seams. It is sized for my chunky legs just right and they are very comfortable to wear - now the best-fitting pair I own. They do have a bit of bulk, so when I go for a more formal shoe at some point, I may consider getting a slightly bigger size, but for now, I'll just loosen my laces a tad.

These hose are really a nice addition to my collection of accessories, and I'm very glad I took the plunge.

Regards,
Rex.
