I have a week and a half, much needed vacation to the Harrisonburg area of Virginia to visit my mum and go hiking in Shenandoah. Since the last time she saw me, I have gone head over heels for the whole kilt thing and let her know that I was going to be bringing some with me to wear. She said that it wasn't that she minded that I wear one (she is Scottish/English), but she said that the locals may not be too accepting. I tried to brush it off, saying it can't be as bad as West Michigan, but she thinks it will be way worse and that I will get mocked.

Has anyone been in this area of the country/lives in this area and noticed anything like this. I think she is just being a bit over protective, but it still makes me wonder.

And, yes, as soon as I get back, I will post some pics.
