As this was the Scottish pipe band championship in Dumbarton last Saturday 16th May, I met with friends in the Three Judges in Partick on Friday night.
The bar staff are always very efficient and helpful but usually it is so busy there is little time for any conversation with the barstaff. Not so last Friday night when I arrived kilted, you would have thought I was a long lost friend as the faces of barstaff and customers welcomed me.
It was the same on Saturday night at the restaurant and karaoke after the contest, every one wants to talk to a kiltie.
You have got to remember this is the home of the kilt but Scots who wear the kilt now at the drop of a hat for football and rugby matches, parties and weddings just love to see anyone weraing their national dress.
One thing that has certainly changed over the years is the acceptance of the kilt being worn outside weddings and formal occassions, perhaps this is because so many young people embrace wearing the kilt
