Mike Ogletree of Simple Minds, and a Burns Country native, has composed, performed and produced a very interesting mash-up of Scottish words and rhymes, as penned by the great Robert Burns, skillfully blended with the rhythms and feels of funky, reggae music.
His Green Grow The Rashes O will have you singing and dancing in your seat as will a catchy rendition of the unabridged Auld Lang Syne. Taking on and skillfully interpreting some of Burns less famous works like the beautiful Bonie Lesley, Mike demonstrates the sing-ability and flexibility of Burns words and just how easily they adapt to modern rhythms and melodies.
After releasing his first solo CD late last year titled The Kilmarnock Edition the above songs from Mike's new CD are available for free download from this player.
