To the Ladies and Gentlemen of XMTS,
Recently there were posted some comments about the policy our forum has concerning weapons
Our policy stands as such:
Our Policy on Weapons Discussions
The only discussion allowed about any type of weapons will be those concerning weapons traditionally and/or historically associated with Highland attire and/or the Scottish regiments.
Posts containing any reference to any other form or type of weapon will be deleted, without exception.
XMTS is an international and family friendly kilt forum.
Weapons, specifically guns, have in the past invariably led to second amendment arguments and flame wars on our forum. Because this is a heated topic we monitor closely when threads veer into this area.
We do allow for discussions of weaponry closely associated with highland dress and the Scottish Regiments. We have little problem with discussion of hunting and other outdoor sports but are very wary of these discussions especially photos because of images that may not be appropriate for our younger visitors or the focus of the being put on the hardware involved.
Is there a place for sportsmen and guns on XMTS?
Yes
But it requires restraint
Reading your post and asking yourself "Is this appropriate for XMTS?" before hitting "SUBMIT" is a great idea
If you aren't sure if a subject is right for XMTS or not sending a PM to the Moderators and asking permission is always a great option.
We try our best to be fair and to maintain XMTS's family friendly environment.
There has been an accusation put forth that the Moderators allow some people to post on subjects but deny others this privilege
This is absolutely true
However it is not because of a personal bias by the Mod Squad
There are members of XMTS that have the skill to talk about all manner of subjects that can come near the boundaries of our forum rules.
They do so with care and respect to those rules, the staff here, and the great membership of our forum. Those threads and posts remain open XMTS.
There are other members that cross the boundaries of those rules with little thought to anyone else. Their threads and posts are closed or removed because they do not comply with our forum rules and the spirit of this online community.
This is why it some people can post about a subject but others can't.
Again, the best rule of thumb when in doubt is read what you have written again before hitting "submit".
If it seems questionable then maybe you should ask a Moderator privately if what you want to share is appropriate for X Marks the Scot.com
We are always happy to help
Sincerely
The Mod Squad
The key element to any discussions of guns on XMTS is restraint
If you aren't sure about something being right for XMTS then ask the Mod Squad first.
Like it or not we have a rule and it is there for the betterment of this forum to keep XMTS civil and family friendly.
The rules, paired with plain old common sense and an understanding about the nature of this community is what guides the Mod Squad in determining what is or isn't OK for our forum.
Cheers
Jamie
