The First of 4 X-Marks Kilts
So, I've now finished the second kilt per "The Art of Kiltmaking". I don't think I've reached the status of kiltmaker yet. Maybe in another 3 or 4 kilts.
I took about 3 months for the practice kilt...finished product posted here (http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/t...x.html?t=47798). Then I took about 3 months to make this one. At this rate I will have achieved my goal of making X-Marks kilts pleated four ways by March of next year. Oh well, speed is not everyone's forte.
Again, no detailed posts-too busy actually making it. This one is faithful in every detail to Barb and Elsie's book, except that it's not wool. It's the latest run of the X-Marks tartan in polyviscose.
Here's the last step in creation, sewing on the lining. It's not the most challenging part, but it can be tedious, thus the vodka and cranberry:

I've decided that the lining is an easier way to declare the maker than sewing in a label:

The kilt I finished back in March was barely big enough for the boy by the time I finished, so I decided to "shoot at the moving target" this time. This one is a little long, but actually fits (on the first hole of the straps). It ought to be a perfect fit by Burn's Night. Note the difference between the two kilts:

Pictures of the happy boy, coming up.
Be well,
