I recently ordered some poly cotton twill from Fabric.com. However I ordered swatches of two different colors, and only one was heavy enough that I was willing to order it. It weighed out at 12oz per yard once it came. I wouldn't order a length of fabric without getting a swatch first, though. It was $3 well spent to ensure that the fabric I wound up with was as heavy as I wanted.

Now I just have to bend the space time continuum to conjure up the time to actually make the kilt!
