belated self-introduction
Two of you out there have now quietly pointed out that I never properly introduced myself, here in the Newbie section, so ... here 'tis.
I'm a professor specializing in early English theatre - up to and including Shakespeare - with side interests as varied as early Scots poetry and gay Canadian film, although I've spent the last decade in administration, leaving little room for thought, not to mention teaching and research. And somehow I never got around to getting the kilt(s) I wanted, either.
But I'm now on leave, to get some research done, and I've ordered that first kilt.
My two kids are of the Graham clan, but I'm not; my husband (yes, we can do that up here in Canada) is a francophone of Métis descent. The one and only time I was in Scotland, a decade ago, I gave a conference paper on issues of gender and sexuality in Schir David Lindsay's Satyre of the Thrie Estaitis - a sprawling masterpiece of a play from the middle of the sixteenth century. I had fun, and fell in love with the country; I'm still a member of Historic Scotland.
And now I'm a member here. Thanks for all the friendly correspondence thus far!
