There are several examples in this thread that are exactly the reason I quit scouting at age 12.
And there are some examples in this thread that make me glad I dropped out in Cub Scouts. 
In all seriousness, not going on to the BSA and obtaining my Eagle Scout will always be a bit of a nagging regret for me, but at the same time, I wonder how much I would have enjoyed the organisation, being a bit of anachronism that rather enjoys uniforms, regalia and all that? I would have been one of those Scouts who wore the campaign hat with enthusiasm, since it is the symbol of Scouting (or was at one time) in the US and the World.
I fear that those of us who do appreciate such things will be once again unfairly generalized as the "uniform police".
