And if more serious poetry is your thing I'd recommend the Cowboy Poetry anthology "Between Earth and Sky" by Anne Heath Widmark.

Check out Anthem, by Buck Ramsey... IMHO just one of the finest d**n poems, Cowboy or otherwise...

And if that "cranks your tractor", check out the annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV (http://www.westernfolklife.org/site1...Gathering.html), put on by the Western Folklife Center.

Not surprisingly, there are some strong Celtic threads in the weave that is cowboy culture.
You seem to enjoy this stuff. I do and my kids do but my Mom and Dad absolutely love it. I rode for a ranch right out of HS in WY. I can take it or leave it. BUT!!!!

If you like this type of music and poetry you have got to go to the Booth Museum up in Cartersville. I've seen and met Red Steagal, R.W. Hampton, Wylie and the Wild West, and now BAxter Black. Along with the GA Cowboy poet laurette. That is truly a great place. An all family event twice a year for us.

I got tons of comments from the vendors and the reenactors there. Even Chisolm of Chisolm holsters is going to make me a kilt belt and us a replica of Gus McRae's belt buckle for it.
