This morning's Remembrance Parade passes along Victoria Road, led by members of Hawick Pipe Band. Note the wee piper. Members of the Hawick Pipe Band wear kilts in the Hawick tartan. There is also a guest piper in the front row, wearing a mainly grey tartan which I did not instantly recognise. Maybe one of our experts can help with a tartan I.D.
Drummers, note also the wee drummer.
The band was followed by the two Standard Bearers and the town's two Halberdiers, wearing their brown uniforms.
Portrait of an old soldier.
Tartan trews were a popular choice for the ex-servicemen who took part on the parade. Tartan trews have always been more popular than kilts for formal wear here in the south of Scotland and I saw countless men wearing tartan trews and only one kilt wearer apart from the bands, among the marchers.
Behind the ex-servicemen, the local Army Cadets marched, followed by youngsters from Hawick High School.
I wore my Royal Air Force kilt in honour of my late father. After the parade had set off for their open air service at the War Memorial in Wilton Lodge Park, I attended the remembrance service in St. Mary's Church.
More to follow shortly.
