Thanks. I was kind of on the fence as to spending the extra money for the nice hose and garter ties. Given that I was already buying a custom kilt, I decided to go for it. Now that I have them, I have to say that they area absolutely worth the extra money. The ties in particular are worth the money because they're not all that much more expensive than regular flashes (actually less than tartan flashes) and look quite a bit better.
