I'm saying that you/one shouldn't worry about it, which isn't quite the same thing. I will often ask those close to me what they think of certain outfits (if they haven't already offered an opinion); many on this forum ask and offer opinions on any/every aspect of kilt outfits. That's a good thing. Knowing what a few folks think - especially folks that matter to you, whether because you love them or because you trust their opinions on the proper height of kilt hose - can allow you to go out with confidence. And confidence matters. It has a tendency to inspire emulation, rather than mockery.
But I would rather be a happy misfit than a miserable conformist. And so I am.
