Domain host woes....
Guys, this is really, really frustrating. My current domain host is really raising my blood pressure. I won't get into any company names, but I have 3 domains with them and right now, all 3 are down because these jokers decided to do a server migration on me and in so doing, messed up the SQL databases on 2 of them and DNS lookup on the 3rd -- a.k.a. it's not even reachable other than numerically.
The only reason why I went with them is because they are dirt cheap (but obviously, you get what you pay for) because their down time is a little higher than I would care to have.
Can anyone PM me some good suggestions for hosting companies that are inexpensive but that they are HAPPY with? I.e. good tech support, good tech competence, speedy customer service, etc...
Here is what I need in a provider. (Most should be pretty standard).
- FTP accessibility
- server ability to run major CMS packages (specifically B2Evo) so that means:
- PHP 4.3.2 or higher
- MySQL 4.1 or higher
I also like the cPanel interface so that would be nice to have as well.
Other features that I would look for: SSL, SSH, CGI, Perl, Python support, Apache web server, ImageMagick, the ability to install modules.
It may be best to restrict thread responses because this shouldn't become an advertising venue (or a source of SPAM) So, if you have any good suggestions for domain/web hosts that you have been happy with, please PM me.
Thank you!
Jim
