The oldest kilt in my personal collection is a MacGregor that I bought off of Ebay probably about 10 years ago. I bought it because it was my size and I think the bidding only reached as high as $75. Couldn't say no.

Only when I received it and was able to examine it could I tell it really was a much older peice than the Ebay auction description let on. My best guess is that it is probably at least 80 years old.

It needs some minor repair -- it could use new leather straps, and a new waistband. Other than that, it's in great shape. It wears very well.

I don't wear it all that often any more, and haven't for years, for a few reasons. The first being I'm not a MacGregor. The second being that it is an older kilt and I see no reason to wear it out. My kilt collection has expanded since I bought this one on Ebay and so I no longer need it for my wardrobe. I'll probably give it to the museum collection eventually.

But I did bring it out to wear last year in honor of the MacGregor clan cheif coming to visit out museum. The ironic thing was that I was in a MacGregor tartan kilt for his visit and he was in....
PANTS! :-)
