Baillieston SNP Burns Supper (with Deputy First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon)

Hi guys. Me and Laura attended the Baillieston SNP Burns Supper last night. It was rightfully held in a beautiful Masonic "Robert Burns Lodge" in Baillieston.
I put on my new goat hair sporran and decided to premier my charcoal tweed jacket - as I was sure the event wasnt too formal. There were around a douzen kilts and worn rather well by many. Some gents were in various Jacobite shirts and waistcoats, a couple of Argylls and four Prince Charlies.

T'was a great night and the meal was a super supper!

The speakers included Deputy First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Anne McLaughlin MSP and Baillieston branch leader Lachie McNeil (with a wonderful kilt and Argyll hose on!). A Scots-speaking member gave the best version of Tam O'Shanter I've ever heard as well!

I was sat accross from John Mason MP and Councillor Grant Thoms. Both were a great laugh, and I've met John several times before so it was good to have a wee catch up.

Enough talk - here's some pictures!

Laura and myself before we left:

    Lachie delivering the opening speech:

Nicola smiling as I took a quick picture!

    The haggis:

Roseanna Cunningham delivers the Immortal Memory:

Nicola Sturgeon says a few humorous and serious words!

John Mason's speech ended a great evening:
(he is one of the very few MPs I have known to own a kilt!)

We have a ceilidh next month and then we can start formally looking forward to Ferintosh!

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
