Hamish, I really understand how you must feel.
Five years ago my wife had a big tumor in her right kidney and the whole kidney had to be removed.
It took two months from finding it to surgery and during this time we started to collect examples of people having fully recovered from this kind of cancer. We only wanted to hear the good stories. We got many and it helped us a lot and the more of them we heard the more we felt convinced that she would survive.
Last week she was to her last control – she has gone through tests and has been scanned every year since then. Everything was perfect and she has no longer an increased risk of developing cancer compared to other people.
Your kind of cancer is different, I know, and the treatment is different. But I hope you’ll be able to find good examples. Positive thoughts, even in a difficult time, might help you to recover along with your medical treatment. Maybe some XMTS members can assist with good stories?
Hamish, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Never stop hoping.
Greg
