Howdy, just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I'm Mark, based in Prescott, AZ. Somewhat new to the kilt. I bought my first at the Camp Verde games in `09 (Black Watch; don't remember the maker), and have since acquired 2 more, both Utilikilts.

I come by the affliction honestly. My great-grandfather was born in Edinburgh and shipped to Canada at a young age (he was orphaned, and that was the custom at the time). My grandfather ended up in Ilion, NY and was a proud Scott, though he never wore the kilt. He was buried in a tartan necktie, as per his request. Sadly, he never was able to visit Scotland. I was fortunate to spend a couple of days in Edigburgh a couple of years back. I've always been drawn to Celtic/Scottish culture.

In my spare time, I play music. I have a growing collection of stringed instruments, including several guitars, a mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin, bouzouki, and an ukulele, as well as a bodhran and a fistful of whistles. I'm not particularly good at any of them, but I'm not shy (a trait I find other kilted folks usually share). I also shoot competitive pistol (USPSA; I don't claim to be competitive, but I compete). I do shoot in my kilt, which generated some curiosity at first, but exclusively positive feedback ever since.

I'm also heavy-game curious. I've mainly been an endurance athlete (triathlon, marathon), but have been doing CrossFit as a workout for the last year. CrossFit shares many heavy games traits, including explosive power over raw strength and endurance.

I've been lurking for a few days, but wanted to say "hey" and see if there were any other similarly afflicted folks up here in the mid-highlands of AZ.
