My MacLean of Duart tank is here at last!
Hello all!
You will remember our friend Paul posting a collection of piping kilts from the City of Newcastle Pipe Band on here for sale for a ridiculously low price! Well I couldn't pass up such an offer so I pulled the trigger. Paul assured me he was sending it, along with a multitude of other things to others who had ordered, out the following Tuesday. Long story short, in the flurry of all the packages Paul was sending out, mine ended up leaving without a signature on the customs form. Completely understandable with the volume of things he was shipping. Of course, all this wasn't discovered until it had made a bit of a tour of the UK. It had to be sent back to Paul to be signed but, UH OH! "We can't seem to find it..." Though they made sure to state that we couldn't utilize the insurance on it because they knew "it was somewhere at one of the posts". At any rate, it finally made it's way back to Paul, who, much to his credit, worked very hard to remedy the lost kilt. Once he had it back in hand, he updated me on the condition of the kilt ("Perfect condition! You'll not need to press this one!") and promptly dropped it in the mail. He also upgraded the shipping to 3-5 day shipping for my troubles AND sent along an awesome thistle pin for the delay. I'm thinking about augmenting my sporran flap with it! All in all, Paul showed his true quality throughout the whole ordeal, updating me with what he knew, responding quickly to my questions and generally just keeping on Royal Mail to right the situation. When all was said and done, I ordered the kilt on Feb 27th and it arrived May 21st! Talk about jonesing hardcore!
As for the kilt, it is an AWESOME fit! Actually, with my weight loss of late, this one fits better than my custom USAK now! Ok ok, enough talking... Here's the pics. Enjoy!
Man that sun is bright!
That crease down the middle is curious... I think it's because I wasn't standing very straight.
The 'Hamish' on the invisible toadstool.... (Don't YOU have those??)
Out and about on a VERY hot day at Carter House in Franklin, TN. Honestly, the 16oz wool was no hotter than I would have been in shorts. I was about as comfy as one could be on a day of 94F degrees!
Now don't get me wrong here, I love my USAK casual but strapping this baby on was a dream! The weight feels great and gives me a boost of confidence on some of the more windy days! I love this kilt and my hat's off to you, Paul, for all your hard work! It was well worth the wait!
