That o1d dude guy, he's pretty smart

SNARRRGGG. I went 43, almost 44 at Santa Cruz in the LWFD. This was a pretty major disappointment, seeing as I've been throwing 48's pretty regularly in practice. Why? Well my friend Kel says I'm slower and slower...meaning I think to much and never just rip the hell out of the weight. Mister o1d dude told me that I was standing up in the middle of the throw.
Son of a gun, but JGorely here on X Marks says to "sit into" the throw......thus not "standing up" as o1d dude had noticed on Sunday. JGorely also says that it looks like I'm not giving it a big pull at the end. HM.

So this morning on the way into work (even though I'm not throwing hard for two weeks to rest) I pull out the 28'er. I did a couple of "dump the weight at the end of the first turn drills" and then did a short bunch of throws. I focused on staying down...drop at the end of the first turn and STAY there. Damn, but if I didn't get my feet around quicker. I mean, I still haven't recovered from last weekend, I'm sore as heck and actually weak in my upper quads and pelvic girdle. I can feel the weakness. So the first two throws, not really putting a lot into it, just staying low. 48- 48. Hmmm...

Then I tried actually catching the weight where I'm supposed to in the second turn. Those tosses went 51 - 51. THEN I tried catching the weight where I'm supposed to and actually being a MAN with the bleedin' thing like Kel wants me to. Result?

Two 54 foot throws....18 long steps from the board. DAMN. Now, that's respectable.

It's in there. I CAN do it. I just have to put it all together.........oh, and pay attention to guys like o1d dude when they tell me that I'm going something grossly wrong.
