Watching hordes of people become slaves to their small patches of turf - usually for no other reason than "keeping up with the Joneses" - is depressing. The culture of intolerance that has grown up around proper lawn care is also a bit disturbing.
That's why I miss the rock lawns of Phoenix...I threaten to "convert" my lawn here in Southwest "Misery" to one every now & then, complete with barrel cacti and Yucca plants!
