Hello hobbzey,
Bad news, I'm afraid. In the Scottish Register of Tartans there is no tartan listed under the name of Robeson. There are some 'Robb's and a Robbins and a vast number of Robertsons and some Robiesons (but they were designed by a man called Robieson, for his family), but no Robeson. Sorry.
Do you have any reason to believe that your name is Scottish? Not everybody's is and not everybody has a tartan.
In the normal course of events, a person would follow their father's line. But if your father has no Scottish history, then follow your mother's line.
The next thing to remember is that until quite recently, spelling was an adventure, not a science. Fathers and sons and brothers often spelt their names differently.
My advice would be to draw up a family tree and look for the Scottish connections. Also, there are no 'Kilt Police', so you can wear any tartan you want. There are as well many 'universal' tartans that anyone can wear.
Buy a cheap 'Black Watch' kilt and start wearing it till you find your own.
Regards
Chas
