I can't believe how indignant and self righteous some people get over this argument. People are getting far too worked up over something that all comes down to one person's choice - If I want to put my belt or sporran strap or both through my belt loops (if I have them), that it should be my choice.
No one jumps up and down and says that cars were driven for year without power steering, heaters or inertia reel seat belts, so does that mean we shouldn't have them in modern cars? It's an insult to history?
I think we all need to lighten up, and stop telling people "You're doing it WRONG!!" when you see them wearing a kilt made our of PV or acrylic or denim or leather, and their belt is going THROUGH THE LOOPS (Oh......the humanity!), and they're wearing a flat cap (Oh, just shoot them now........put them out of their misery please!!), and they're wearing boots (Ugh, now I just feel physically sick...........).........
We wear these things because we like them and we enjoy the comfort and style ..... not because we're conforming to an 18th century costume like the ones we see so often in the pictures posted here.
