Yes, exactly. A sgian is indeed a potent weapon when used in the right manner, at the right moment, by the right person. People have made far more use of lesser weapons... like box cutters, for example.

While the sgian dubh may not be the best choice of weapon for fighting, I'd still take it any day over nothing at all!
