Last night I attended (along with many others) a Scotch tasting at the Trinity Hall (pub) here in Dallas, Texas. The tasting was sponsored by Laphroaig Distillery (in the Islay area of Scotland). John Campbell, Distillery Manager, walked us through six samples: an Ardmore, and Laphroaig - 10 yr, 10 yr cask, 1/4 cask, an 18 yr and 25 yr. John did a superb job explaining each and really enhanced the tasting experience through his expertise. At the end of the tasting, he raffled off a beautiful picture (that he signed) of the distillery in older times with a man in the foreground picking barley or peat.
