My kilt in the New World Irish tartan has arrived! This is a registered tartan that won a design contest put on by The Frugal Corner. Read more about the tartan and the design process here:

It's my first acrylic kilt and I'm quite surprised at how wool-like it is. Not the same weight as worsted wool but a heavier, coarser feel than PV. Approximately 8 yards, three buckles/straps, sewn down (but not cut out) pleats, double fringe, deep first pleat, and reverse final pleat.
It's also my first time wearing tartan flashes... normally I avoid them but they came with the kilt and look kind of like stripes rather than tartan. Thoughts?
This is an off-the rack size and doesn't quite fit me properly but Mark at The Frugal Corner is getting another one made for me to my waist and length measurements. The next kilt will also be pleated differently... this pleating to the stripe is a bit too white for my taste.
Anyone else have one of these kilts? I know denmcdough does and hopefully he'll post some pics too...
