Terry, the different stoles are probably the personal choice of each minister.
Indeed, I have a couple. depending on the the function and the formality. Somewhere I have a listing on that the colors mean, but many these days are rainbow or multi hued.
My Senior Minister almost never wears a stole, when he does he prefers a pure white one. Another friend prefers one that her mother made her, a deep red with golden embroidery. My preferred stole is one I got from a mission in Guatemala, it is purple with gold and red and white threads.
I love the one that is tartan that Rev. Judy Hay is wearing!
