So one of my friends decided that it would be a good idea to get married on New Year's day. I guess the upside to that is that her husband really has no excuse for forgetting their anniversary. Anyway, I checked with her back in December to make sure she was cool with me being kilted. She gave the ok and I promptly forgot and made my Christmas vacation plans, meaning that I would get back into town at 11:30 pm on the 31st. Doh! Anyway, despite foul weather all over the eastern seaboard, I actually arrived back home ahead of schedule.

This was the first time I'd attended Mass in a kilt, so I wasn't certain how well it would go over. I knew the bride's family would be cool with it as one of her brothers was married in a kilt, but beyond that was anybody's guess. Needless to say, I got more than a couple of double-takes as people noticed. Without exception, everyone I spoke to absolutely loved the attire. I had at least 10 people come up to me and tell me how much they liked my kilt. The priest even came up to me after Mass and told me how good it looked (He's Italian, so doesn't have a lot of personal/familial experience with tartans).

And since pictures are requirement around here, this is the outfit I was wearing:

Jacket/waistcoat combo is from Rocky at USAK and kilt is my Matt Newsome box pleat in Elliot Ancient.

When I attended Mass in my usual suit I actually had a couple of people asking where my kilt was. Given the response, I may have to incorporate the kilt suit into my suit rotation for Mass.
