Do it! I recommend the Utilikilt, if you can afford it. Tough as nails and easy to maintain. It also leads itself to wearing boots of your own style as well as shirts. I've several models and can give you my pros/cons for each, if you want. After that, I'd check out sportkilts or whatever trigs your trigger. For tartan style, which I've moved into, there's some really great manufacturers right here in the States. Beware of ordering overseas as importing the tartan is one thing, but importing an overseas kilt is a whole 'nother thing (expensive, customs, import fees, etc.). We use Higgins, out of Kansas, here in north Texas, but down south, Houston has it's own thing goin' in the market.
I should start a blog on my first time wearing a UK out in public. Terrifying, exciting, fun, weird - it all comes into play. If you're single, women will flock to you. No kidding. Married, single, divorced - doesn't matter. Men laugh or avoid you like the plague. Very bizarre, but who cares?
Do it. Do it now. Buy one! Commit! Throw the pants (and underwear) away. I guarantee you will soon hate pants as we do!
Cheers,
Danaidh
