What would a traditional Kilted Battle Dress Uniform in our day look like?
This may need to be moved though I thought this was a fine place to start it.
An exercise in “highland wear” imagination.
Most folks here have what seems to be a good sense of vision and imagination. For some this involves more traditional themes for others more contemporary themes and some bring a more historical vision.
Just about all of us are aware of the Highland military culture in one form or another and many of us have a kind of imaginative vision of that.
I am interested in what folks would envision as a kilted Battle Dress Uniform/No.5/No.8/Utility Uniform what have you.
I’m asking about a uniform for combat (imaginatively and not attempting a purely practical uniform required in true combat situations) that would be in the tradition of say the Highland Regiments of WWI. Could be a Canadian or Scottish or Aussie or NZ or US… the country of your choosing and the Regiment of your own design or an established one.
The basic limits are:
Kilt of some form, in a Battle Dress Uniform.
My interest is around the details of course.
Kilt apron? Colour or Camo etc?
Head cover, Bonnet, Lid etc (when not in helmet) Hackle? Colour?
Jacket Cut? Cuttaway? 1902 variety? BDU, ACU etc…?
Hose? Gaters? Boots?
Overall Camo?
Belt Sporran? Klt Apron pocket? Kilt w/Pockets?
Belt, Stable belt, rig etc?
Theatre?
Terrian?
Tartan?
Name?
Recently saw a scifi movie where they were in the future and had their own special camouflage and BDUs and that got me to thinking. So I was eager to hear from your visions.
I look forward to your uniforms.
Peace,
justin
