Many of you saw my photos from the "Celebration of Tartan" exhibition on Ellis Island last weekend, which kicked off "Tartan Week" in NYC.

Thread here.

I was able to remain in New York for a couple of days afterwards, allowing me to see some of the sights, as well as attend the Dressed to Kilt fashion show.

Here are some photos from that visit. First, a nice walk through Central Park on Monday morning. (Being an NC mountain boy myself, this was the part of NY where I felt most at home!)

I ran into some familiar faces in the park...

Yours truly, not in a kilt, but still in the tartan...

(Scarf is in the Scottish Tartans Authority tartan).

I also got a chance to see the American Museum of Natural History (aka, the cool dinosaur bone museum).

They had all sorts of other interesting artifacts from cultures around the world, including this amazing salmon skin coat (how about that for a kilt jacket)?

Sadly, not much in the Natural History Museum of relevance to Scotland (there were wings of exhibits on just about every culture except European), though I did find this wee bit of Scotia!
