In a recent thread Sport kilt seemed to receive somewhat less than favorable reviews. So after purchasing my second Sport kilt Ultimate. I thought I would share my experience. As noted in past threads and as evidenced by my pictures I am an avid Scouter. I do not only wear kilts when in my scout uniform but when in uniform I am most likely wearing a Kilt. I have never owned nor worn a hand made or real wool kilt so I have no basis for comparison.
Of the two sport kilts the OD kilt is 100% cotton and the MacLaren is PV. I found both to be extremely comfortable. Both machine washable. And seem to be very well made. As I have often said I am built a little different than you slimmer folks and some of you big boys too. With a large “Cookie Belly” wearing a kilt up at the navel is not just uncomfortable it is actually painful tightening a kilt around my “love handles”. Therefore I have chosen to wear kilts down on my hips the way I wear my jeans. So the problem is finding a kilt I can afford. In 20 inch length. Sport kilt Ultimate and Commando are made to measure and customized the way you like them AND they have pockets. I LOVE the pockets. For Hiking camping and other Scouting activities it is just nice to have FOUR pockets. For my self I have found the perfect kilt for what I like to wear a kilt for.
Thank you Seamus and thank you Sport Kilt
