Kilted Kentucky Oaks- Kentucky Derby 2011
Wife, Brother, future sister in law and some friends and I went to the Kentucky Oaks Races Friday May 6 and then again to the Kentucky Derby Races Saturday May 7 here in Louisville at the world famous Churchill Downs track. Had a blast, kilted both days.

Friday, Ancient Red Douglas with a cotton sweater and diced tam and my wife in her Oaks dress and hat (it's all about the hat).

Plum Pretty, the horse that won the showcase race on Friday afternoon, the Kentucky Oaks.

Saturday, me in my lovat green wallace and waistcoat, Dutch Friendship Tartan kilt, and lovat green tam, with wife in her Derby dress and hat (it is still really all about the hat). Made it on TV briefly from a distance when they panned the crowd right before the actual Derby race.
1 attempted and foiled kilt check (she shrank when I threatened to call the cops for a sexual assault charge), 14 times asked "The Question", and at least 40 times photographed either alone or with someone I did not know. At least a couple hundred compliments and one drunkard offering me $20 to come join his buddies and him for their bachelor party in the infield. Only won one bet, the first one the second day. Seems I had a propensity for choosing horses who would pull up lame during the race (three times). Never did get a photo of the Derby winner Animal Kingdom even though he walked right in front of me then came by twice during the race---oh well. A good time was had by all.
