Kilts for Injured Servicemen?
Somewhere in the postings I recall a short comment about kilts being easier to wear than pants for men who have leg prosthetics and amputations. Has this been discussed previously? The reason this stuck in my mind is that I sometimes sew accommodator pants for injured service men. These are pants that have one or two large legs that have Velcro sideseams rather than zippers. When a serviceman has rods and braces inserted into his leg bones it is impossible to wear a regular pair of pants. The organization that heads this volunteer effort is called Sew Much Comfort. They feel that the accommodator pants give dignity to the injured men. If kilts are a lot easier to wear, and if a leg-injured serviceman wanted one, wouldn't it be nice to be able to offer one to him? Do you know if any volunteer Scottish organizations do this?
