Thanks for the information. I did understand weathered was a modern innovation, but I did find a list (and I can't say whether or not it is accurate) of world wide military units that included "ancient" and "hunting" amongst the tartans so it seemed a plausible question. As an aside I thought your comments on using the kilt for out door activities and the like was interesting. I will enjoy seeing photos 3 or 4 years down the road. Do you just plan to give the kilt a good brushing after use and air it out in fresh air after use? I also seem to be mistaken in believing that the pleats would require more care and attention than knife pleats, but is not the case?
