Why I wear a kilt:
Because I feel a bit silly wearing pants when I drink Single Malt Scoth.
Because after spending over twenty years in the defence of my country and having to wear a dress uniform in public, I find that I feel uncomfortable when I can blend in with the crowd.
Because a man can run faster with his kilt lifted up than he can with his pants let down.

I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

Because police tend to get all uppity and arrest people walking around naked...

Why do I wear a kilt? Because:
1. My wife asked me to.
2. My wife thinks I'm hot in one.
3. Other women think I'm hot in one.
4. I think I'm hot in one.
5. I AM hot in one.
6. It is terribly comfortable.
7. To honor my ancestors and my wife's ancestors, be they Scottish, Irish or Welsh.
8. I'm terribly comfortable, and anybody who matters thinks I'm hot.
9. Because I'm secure enough to do so.
10. Most importantly... I want to.

Love the quote that started this thread. I must admit I'd never thought of that aspect.
I wear mine, first and foremost to celebrate the family heritage, secondly because it feels great to wear, and being used to Sri Lankan sarongs, aside from the weigth I'm used to wearing that style of clothing, partly because I've been told I look great in a kilt, but mainly becuase I simply enjoy wearing it!
having said that, I had a thought last night - the original great kilt went around the body and over the shoulder, similar to a sari, but it became fashionable as the 'modern' kilt that just goes around the waist, so we buy a plaid to go over the shoulder...rather ironic don't you think?

Because I'm a piper
It's comfortable
It makes women swoon. I'm a hefty dude and don't get looks from the level of women I use to. I strapped on a kilt a few months ago and went to a old colonial pub. All of the gorgeous girls from the wedding going on out back were gawking at me. It only took one to say something to me and they all started talking to me.
The kilt is pure magic
Let YOUR utterance be always with graciousness, seasoned with salt, so as to know how you ought to give an answer to each one.
