    About going 'regimental'....
I have and I also haven't, and in truth it's no ones business but my own.

A bit late into this thread, but got here now.

I think it is a reasonable question from someone who is intending to buy or hire and wear a kilt, especially if they are allergic to wool.

What I can never understand is why it is of interest to men otherwise. I have no interest in what any man wears under kilt or trousers.

I can understand why it might be of interest to females in certain circumstances in the same way that what they do or don't wear under their skirts is of interest to most men in similar circumstances. I certainly don't make a habit of asking them though. As for an uninvited female lifting someone's kilt to find out, what would the reaction be if the roles were reversed?
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

    Your tempting me fellas

I had a rant brothers but I had to take it all back... As funny as I feel it could be I won't get kicked out of here or start self inflicted kiester realignment. If you are up for a good joke though... please send me a personal message and I'll throw you a few good answers to this question my comrades and I have thought up over a fire and barley pops. My official answer is quoted from an old gent I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of. He said, "The difference between a kilt and a skirt is underwear" and I'm going to leave it there. Now I can completely understand circumstances and it's all in good fun!

My usual response isn't up there...

    "Can you keep a secret?"

    "So can I."

I'd say its of much less interest to women than some men might suspect!

In Scotland, as much as any woman does think about it (which isn't much) I'd say she assumes the kilt is being worn traditionally. End of. If she's had a few refreshments, or with some like-minded girlfriends, she might feel like confirming it. Can I just say in reply to the question "how would women like it if men lifted or peeked up their skirts" the answer is "not at all" because simply women are not men. I'm not saying anyone should be subjected to unwanted attention, but as inconveniences go, its not the worst thing in the world, is it? So a lady sees your bare bum, whether by accident or design. Let me assure men here, we don't a) fall into a faint or b) become raving nymphomaniacs. What do we do? Well, brace yourselves guys- we have a [B]laugh[B/] and move on! That's it.

So are you saying sexual harrasment is ok if the person on the receiving end is male?

Drunk or sober, ANY lady who lifts a man's kilt to take a peek is certainly no lady. And I dare say that I would not like to keep such company. If we were friends before, we certainly wouldn't be friends after.

It is no more tolerable for one gender to behave inappropriately than the other. Period! And I would have no trouble at all reporting such an incident to the police to have it prosecuted appropriately.

This was one of the most absurd posts I've read in a long time.

I showed her post to my wife. She agreed sexual assault is sexual assault. (which under Canadian law I believe it would be) She would be the first one to call the police.

I hate to break it to you, but being called 'a lady' isn't necessarily what every woman aspires to!

I never said anything about sexual harassment or assault! I had a girlfriend who had to endure months of harassment at work by a boss and to be quite honest I do not think we are talking about the same kind of issue at all. Are we really saying women are 'sneaking a peek' out of sexual intent??

Maybe we need another term for kilted men who are on the receiving end of unwanted attention?

As a fairly newbie to the wearing of the kilt, I must admit that I dont go regimental (at the moment ) but I am sure as my confidence rises I will give it a try, but at the moment I am just enjoying wearing a kilt and driving everyone else crazy by turning up in it on any occassion. But I must say have had more compliments then anything else.
