Forget the acrylic, don't waste your money.
PV USA Casual, an absolute YES, go for it. I've got 3 of 'em. My everyday and traveling kilt. My other 2 kilts, House of Edgar tank and 13 oz. "Claus of the North Pole" for special occasions.
Congratulations on becoming kilted.

It did happen! Congrats on joining the ranks of the kilted. Santa Wally gives good advice on choosing PV over acryllic. I have 2 casuals & 2 semi-trads from USAK, and will be adding more to the wardrobe.

Very nice!
We have a few Heritage of Scotland PVs in the house, and while I've since learned that they are not true PV (no telling what it really is) I really have no complaints with them. I've heard nothing but great stuff about Rocky's PV's too. The cost, the look and the ease of maintaining them can't be beat.
As far as acrylics, there are a few Stillwater thriftys in the house too. I wear mine daily around the house. First thing I change into when I get home from work. Granted, I will not even take out the trash while wearing one, much less wear it in public, but for the money, I don't have to worry about ruining it. After hemming and sewing the pleats down, it is perfect for around the house. acrylics aren't good for much, but they do have their place and purpose. My son wears his acrylics to high school quite a bit, although his are maintained much better than mine, that get treated like sweatpants.

Congratulations! Reminds me, and I suspect a lot of us, how it was on that first day. Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts.

Thanks everyone, once more, for the advice and kind words! One of the things about wearing that strikes me is how a comment from some stranger (as I've gotten a couple times today), for whom it's likely a new —or at least unusual— occurrence, can make fresh the entire business of wearing it; I don't know how long the feeling of newness commonly takes to wear off, but the possibility suggests itself to me that it may not happen at all.
As luck would have it, KiltedCodeWarrior put up for sale one of Matt Newsome's tweed box-pleats; it fits, and, more importantly, is what I was looking for (I happen to have a fondness for tweed), and so, as I finish getting rid of those last few inches, I'll have another one to wear. But, to be sure, to be sure, I might just have to go in for one of those USA Kilts polyviscose numbers.
