    Portland Highland games

okay so this past weekend was my first ever highland games, and one of my first times publicly kilted. me and my fiance drove 3 hours in the rain to get there from southern Oregon up to Portland, thankfully the rain stopped and it turned into a beautiful day. I saw lots of great looking kilts and got a chance to fully explain all the different pleating styles, tartan and modern/traditional kilts to my fiance. and it was a great time all in all. and i was able to obtain a great Sgian dubh and Sporran to help complete my outfit and also get a great dress sporran for our up coming wedding. So please enjoy some pictures!

Me with my new Sgian dubh and Sporran

    Fiance and myself

Fiance in a awesome leather top(but it had to stay on the rack $$$)

Me in an amazing leather jacket! (way to pricey though)

    Caber tossing!

    More Caber tossing

    Hammer throw

    And some dang good beer!

    Great photos!

About the MacTarnahan's, a few years ago at our biggest California games in Pleasanton there were Portland Brewing Company booths all over the grounds, selling MacTarnahan's, Black Watch Porter, and a honey beer as I recall.

It was the best beer they'd ever had there! But the next year they weren't there, or ever since.

apparently they had been gone from the Portland games for a while as well but now seem to be back, so maybe there's hope still.

Things at Portland Brewing haven't been the same since Mac died. They don't even have Scottish Food at the brew pub any longer. We have quit eating there.

While the rabble were present at the Portland games, I was kilted at the Cycle Oregon Weekend, down in Salem. I had been warned that I would either be lost in a crowd, or standing in that same crowd. Turns out that besides myself, there was only one other kilt wearer. (And sorry Ron, I didn't have my camera handy whenever I saw you in your OD utilikilt).

Here I am on Saturday night at the Widmer Brewing Beer Garden, on the State Capital grounds. A lone kilt wearer among 1,700 other cyclists.
