Which Doublet?

Velvet jackets will crease if they are thrown on the floor after a long evening and never hung up afterward! I've never really noted a problem with any of the velvet doublets and smoking jackets we have about the house. Some of them are at least 60 years old, too!

I was thinking more along the lines of during the evening, rather than at the end of the day. I remember my mother had an emerald green velvet bolero jacket. She would never lean back when she was seated for fear of the chair back leaving an imprint on the jacket.

I was very young at the time, so maybe I am mis-remembering this.
