    Kintail;
    I'm afraid there may be more of that type of thing now with the "no tell" law is gone. You will just have to deal with it. Anyway, thanks for your service.

    Kintail, I'm sure the 1SG would understand if you smacked the offender. All mine would have. I haven't had the flip done to me. Maybe because I'm rather big and cranky looking. I have had a few Soldiers try to get a peak by ducking low but quit once caught. You could always ask if he's trying to get a jump on the repeal of DADT. Personally, I don't respond well to people who violate the 36 inch rule.

    Any chance of a photo of the ancient hunting MacRae in Afghanistan for the Clan MacRae Society newsletter and website?

    Okay, first time I've heard that one. What in the world is the 36 inch rule?

    I know darn good and well that while in Iraq, had I been allowed to get out of uniform and been wearing a kilt, every man in my company (175) would have done that to me. I think your lucky that only one did it to you. It takes a whole bunch of really thick skin to be in the Infantry.

    What branch of service are you in?

    OCR, if some do it from behind and you never have seen them, how do you know none were men?

    To be honest, when it happens it annoys me.
    If I went up to a woman in a pub (whether I was drunk or sober) and lifted her skirt to check if she was wearing underwear, I'd be arrested, charged, and placed on the sex offenders register.
    A drunk woman does it, and it's "all a bit of fun"
    I dislike the double standard.

    It is regarded as a bit of fun whether done by drunken man or woman. Regrettably double standards seem to be the order of the day, as amply demonstrated by our politicians.
    If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

    Jake,

    The 36 inch rule defines one's personal space. If someone approaches you closer than three feet, they have violated your personal space and the 36 inch rule. I generally allow one arm's length plus six inches for personal space, any closer than that is too close.

    Every guy on my team would have pulled that stunt. Jokes were part of the way we blew off steam, and a proper response was sure to follow. We worked a four team rotation, and the downtime could get a little interesting to say the least.
