Since I am a very slow reader, my attempting to read a 734-page book is no superficial undertaking. I’m a month in, and a third of the way through, and it’s fantastic! Thanks for the suggestion.

Here’s an obscure word for you to try out – perlegenda – meaning a collection of items which ought to be read over or gone through.
Note that the word perlegenda does not apply to a list of things to be read, but only to the collection of things themselves. Common examples would include a stack of to-be-read books or a pile of unopened mail.
Realted words include perlegate (used in 1593) a verb meaning to read through, and perlection (used in 1485) a noun describing the action of reading through.
Although the word perlegenda is the Latin plural of perlegendum, in English the word perlegenda is taken as a singular. It is etymologically derived from Latin perlegenda, substantive use of the neuter plural of perlegendus (“which ought to be read over or gone through”), in turn the future passive participle gerundive of perlegere (“to read over/through; scan, survey, run one’s eyes over; recount”).
Enjoy!
