Welcome from the Northern English county of Lancashire. I lived near Medicine Hat for a while too. Suffield to be precise. I was married unaccompanied though which was a bit of a disappointment. Despite that I still managed lots of good times but it all came to an end too quickly. Spent a few nights on the lash in Calgary and also in Edmonton on separate occasions. Love Canada me. Should have stayed there.
Guess I should have stated that I was born and raised in Medicine Hat, forgot about the Suffield connection from across the pond.

Yeah it'll be a little hard finding a non-custom kilt for your height. Best of luck, though.

from southern Oregon (with relatives in Edmonton, so I've driven the Calgary-Edmonton Trail ).

With your background, I'd consider the Alberta and Maple Leaf tartans, as well as any of the others that strike your fancy.

A warm Scottish welcome from middle England. Suggest you experiment with a towel to find out where it hangs from comfortably and looks best to work out the kilt length you need.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
