Sporran design- do you like this?
So I ran across this bag listed as a sporran. I personally really like it, even though it's not really a traditional sporran. What do you all think of this?
Is it passable as a sporran? No? Would you wear this with your kilt?

Oh! It's just horrible, Nighthawk!
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I agree.
As a side pouch, maybe. The tooling and general style look good. If there was a matching sporran of a decent size.

It is a bit small for a man, but maybe it would be good for a young boy. It looks really nice though.

Personally, I don't think it would work too well. It's the proportions that are off (at least to my eye).
It's either not long enough, or too wide for it's height - take your pick So if the bag is the proper size in one dimension it's off in the other.
Also, it looks a little too large in front-to-back depth.
I think it's quite a nice bag, but probably only as a purse.

I agree. Traditional sporrans from the 18th century up to today have certain proportions and it's those that look "right" to my eye.
Things which are squat and wide just don't look like sporrans to me.

I think if it were a little taller, with carving done by Nighthawk and assembly by Artificer, and hung on a belt, not hangers, it would be a very nice sporran.

I agree. The tooling and drawstring look nice but it is sized for a small boy. That tends to throw the proportions off a bit.

I would probably use a bag that small for a side pouch only.
