    Summer 2011 Vancouver Trip!

    Greetings!

My lovely wife, Stephanie, and my equally lovely mother-in-law, Beverly Robertson, will be departing for Vancouver, British Columbia tomorrow morning, Sunday, August 7. We will be staying in Vancouver until Thursday, August 11. If there are any Xmarkers that live in the area, and I do believe our own forum owner, Steve Ashton lives in Victoria, would like to meet up for a dinner, a wee dram, a pint, or all of the above, please send me a PM or post a response to this thread as soon as you can! Our accomodations are in the Surrey and Burnaby areas of Vancouver.

This is a last minute trip for us, obviously, and we are definitely looking forward to the vacation! Naturally, I will have my Highland attire packed and ready to go...it is British Columbia after all. I look forward to possibly meeting some of my fellow Xmarkers!

    Slainte mhath,

If you would like to take the ferry across to Victoria we would be honored to host you here at the shop. It would be a wonderful day trip. The ferry ride as it goes between the islands is breathtaking. Seals, Orcas somethings and bald eagles in the trees.

If you have enough time I would be honored to offer you a guided tour of our Royal BC Museum. As my guest.

Buchardt Gardens just north of Victoria are world famous. You will see flyers at all the tourists info places.

Kiltedwolfman, Kilted Knome and I would love to meet you.

And when here at Freedom Kilts perhaps I can give you some lessons on how to wear the kilt.

Wonderful Steve! Thank you so much mate. We are currently in Surrey, and actually plan to either 'walk on', or take our vehicle on the ferry from Tsawassen to Swartz bay in Victoria, today, Wednesday, August 10. We would love to find your kilt shop and come by to meet you. We have been spending time in Vancouver, visiting the area. We plan to head back down to Seattle later tonight, as we have a hotel reservation there. We'd love to see Craigdorrach castle in Victoria! We ran into a lassie from Edmonton and she had many good things to say about Victoria. I hope we can meet up!

    Cheers and thanks again,

    Kyle

Steve, sorry we missed you mate - I'll PM you in a wee while explaining what happened. We are currently in Atlanta, en route home to Cincinnati. Thank you for your PM...and by the way, Victoria was beautiful, perfect weather for the kilt, and the fish n' chips at the bay were delightful!

    Cordially,

I am so sorry that we mist you. You would have been more than welcome to stay with us. I did not read this post until tonight and we will extend this invitation to any XMarksthescot member. We live in North Vancouver about one block away from Vancouver"s central transportation system. 12 minutes by Sea Bus and then you are in downtown Vancouver. Go by bus, taxi, sky train to the airport or almost any place you would like to travel to. The ferries are close by to Vancouver Island.
Just give us a few days notice and we will accommodate you if we are able to.
A-Hum I would doubt that we could handle dogs, cats or other pets, We could handle a couple of kids, Grandmothers or Grandads. Just dont plan to camp here for more than a few days. There will be no charge to anyone XMarks the scot members.
Lang may your lum reek and a wee mouse never leaves your cupboard with a tear in its eye.

Oh thank you so much for your kind hospitality! I am sorry we missed you as well, as we were indeed up in North Vancouver - we went to the suspension bridge - a chap we met at the Seattle airport gave us an old entry pass to the bridge and skywalk, and they accepted it! Really nice chap from Surrey, BC. Next time, and mark my words, there will be a next time, we are in the Vancouver area, we will definitely take you up on your kind offer. Thank you again!

    Cheers,
