Of course, what and how you wear your clothes is entirely your own affair and yes, we are in the "modern" section here and I doubt that I can add much to "modern" trends. However, I can assure you that a tattersall shirt and regimental/university/club/old school style tie is very traditional when worn with a tartan kilt in Scotland and whilst some colours may, or may not match with something else on our attire , very little consideration is given to the resulting combination . Don't believe me? Have a look at the many threads and pictures that illustrate the point on this website and whilst you may not be converted, which is fair enough, many have.
